What is liposuction recovery like?

It depends on how many areas are treated, but generally the first few days you will need to take pain medication.  You will be very swollen and it is best to plan to take a week off of work.  Some patients don't need a full week and some need more than a week.  You will be sore for the first two weeks.  And it may take 3-6 months for the swelling to reside.

When can I exercise after liposuction?

I would wait 2-3 weeks after the surgery, but please check with your surgeon before exercising.

After having kids, what stomach procedure should I have?

Each person is different and you need to have a consultation with a surgeon.  A lot of mothers end up having loose skin around their abdomen after pregnancy and a tummy tuck may be recommended.  Some mothers may have a hard time losing the pregnancy weight so liposuction may be recommended.  And sometimes both procedures will give the best results.

How long do I have to wear compression garments after liposuction?

It's best to listen to your surgeon's recommendation because every surgeon has a different policy.  Some surgeon's don't use them and some think you should wear them for an entire month.  There has been mixed thoughts on the results of the garment.  But it seems as though the majority of doctors do recommend it to reduce swelling.  Some patients find comfort in wearing the garments and others can't stand them.  Please discuss your individual needs with your doctor.

Will I have scars after liposuction?

Yes, you will have small scars after liposuction.  The surgeon must make a small incision in order to insert the liposuction cannula (instrument).

What is Ultrashape?

Ultrashape is a non-invasive FDA approved procedure.  This new ultrasound technology treats small areas of fat that have been resistant to exercise and diet.  However, not all patients are candidates. Theis procedure will not be helpful for those with a lot of fat. Most patients have 2-3 treatments in 2 week intervals and are impressed with this non-surgical method.
